The Open Waters

When not engaged in his human rights work, Peter Schey enjoys sailing, writing, and creating music. He has sailed to Mexican ports, in the southeastern Aegean Sea and Eastern Mediterranean, to various islands in the Caribbean including Antigua, the British Virgin Islands, and the archipelago of the Antilles, Catalina and the Channel Islands. He owns and sails Dakota Rose, a 45 foot Beneteau sloop. “The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.” Christopher McCandless, Into the Wild. “For whatever we lose (like a you or a me), it’s always our self we find in the sea.” E.E. Cummings, American Poet & Author.
